The Weekend and Indies.

On Monday, or the subsequent day that starts the work week as this particular week has been, I always have a story from the weekend. This weekend the most memorable thing that happened was my discovery of a new bar in town. The weekend was not just a regular one. There was an occasion. My sister’s birthday was this past weekend, on Saturday the 23rd. What’s more is one of my coworkers was celebrating her birthday as well, so it should have made for a pretty eventful weekend… however, it wasn’t all that I expected. Now, things started off seemingly well. Her, my sister’s friends arrived and were ready to go. But it turns out one of them forgot their I.D. (Penalty on the play)

Now, the absent ID made going out for my sis and company practically a no-go, so they stayed home. Nonetheless, this would not deter my brother and me. We decided that we would go downtown anyway. They have a fantastic new theatre, several bars and clubs... but most of all, the women! Oh my there are just so many women! So we freshened up, and headed down there.

Unaware of which would be the best bar to go into first, we just happened to pick the one the was closest. McFaddens... my, my, my. The first thing we witnessed when we walked in was a woman, not an employee, on the bar while listening and dancing to "Pour Some Sugar On Me". This red headed vixen, who I wondered if her "curtains" matched the "carpet", was really getting down. But the dancing on the bar wasn't nearly as unexpected as when she took off her bra and swung it around her head and then flung it into the crowd... which was not not nearly as unexpected as when she did the same thing with her shirt... without throwing it into the crowd.(smart move) As you can imagine, we stayed there for a while to drink. Eventually however, we made it to the other end of the District, to Main street.

Now, it's Main that has the bar Indies so that's where we went. Why Indies? Well because we had received a flyer about this place earlier in the day. Apparently, they have $3 wells from Friday to Sunday... yes, $3. What's strange is as unexpected as the topless dancing at the McFaddens was the fact that this place, once we arrived, was damn near deserted. There were only six people in the entire place... two of them were my brother and me. It's clear to me that word has just not gotten out about the bar but it is a very nice establishment. It has all the makings of a good bar. Nice calming wood decorum, contemporary television screens and furniture, but still it maintains a sense of familiarity.

Needless to say, my brother and I had several drinks, and enjoyed the atmosphere and alcohol. So, if you live in Kansas City, or are ever in Kansas City, go downtown on Main street and visit Indies. Ask for Mike.
